In 2015, it was revealed that Islamic jihadists had set up training camps in 22 states across America, but the Federal Bureau of Investigation had its hands tied and could not take action, because the Obama administration refused to categorize the umbrella group of the Muslim Brotherhood as a terror organization.
“These training camps have been connected to Muslims of America (MOA) and belong to Jamaat ul-Fuqra, a Pakistan Muslim Brotherhood and Al Qaeda-related branch. These camps are nothing new, as at least 19 of them were established as early as 2012”, reported The Federalist Papers.
Flash forward to April 2017 at which point Homeland Security Director John Kelly stated that the United States is facing its “highest terror threat in years,” causing the FBI to launch investigations in all 50 states, according to New York Post.
“The threat to our nation and our American way of life has not diminished,” Kelly said during a speech at George Washington University. “In fact, the threat has metastasized and decentralized.”
Kelly singled out “radical Islam” as a driving force behind the threat.
The increase comes as the country is experiencing an “unprecedented spike” in homegrown terrorism, according to Kelly.
“We are under attack from terrorists both within and outside of our borders,” he said.
In February, Sen. Ted Cruz proposed a bill to designate the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization. Called the “Muslim Brotherhood Terror Designation Act”, the bill went nowhere.
Even President Donald Trump has been reluctant to take such a move out of concerns that it will result in backlash from key Muslim majority states, such as Egypt, but as National Review points out, “The irony is hard to miss, particularly given that Egypt and several other Arab countries have already designated the Brotherhood a terrorist organization.
The terror attacks of 9/11 is proof that jihadists will wait and train for years for just the right moment to strike. So what are our leaders waiting for? As lone wolf attacks continue to escalate both here and abroad, must countless other Americans be maimed or killed before our representatives take action?
Is it not their sworn duty to uphold the Constitution and provide the opportunity for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?
Sign the Petition HERE to demand that Congress and President Trump designate the Muslim Brotherhood and the MOA as terrorist organizations. We cannot wait any longer.
