After Wednesday’s assassination attempt, the media, Democrats, Republicans and others have made comments such as “we need to tamp down the rhetoric on both sides,” “both sides are guilty of spreading hate,” etc.
Although I can respect their sentiment, I must share that I not only disagree but am slightly offended by it.
As most everyone knows, I have been involved with the tea party movement since day 1. My friends and I have been called nazis, racists, sexists, homophobes, and Islamaphobes more times than we can count over the past 8 years. In response, we turned the other cheek.
While the Left’s rallies incited violence and were exclusive of whites and men, all races and both sexes have always been welcome and active at every level of our movement.
For years, we were the ones who were immediately accused of each and every shooting and/or terrorist attack. Each time proving the #FakeNews wrong. In response, we turned the other cheek.
During the Obama Administration, it was revealed and proven the IRS had been targeting conservatives and Tea Party groups. Although this action is blatantly illegal, no one, not one single person, was ever held accountable. In response, we turned the other cheek.
The Department of Homeland Security even labeled us domestic terrorists, although there has never been one incident to justify the label. In response, we turned the other cheek.
We have watched Occupy Wall Street destroy businesses and impede business.
We have witnessed BLM riot, set fires, loot and vilify and assassinate our police officers.
We have witnessed Antifah shut down free speech, riot, set fires, pepper spray and beat innocent Americans.
Thousands of Conservatives looked forward for months to the Republican National Convention in Cleveland. We made sacrifices and spent a good deal of money to attend.
As Americans, we should have had the right and privilege to enjoy our long awaited event. Unfortunately, due to real and serious threats from the Left, a fence had to be erected around the arena forcing us to stay in a very small caged area for our own safety. Although Cleveland could not have been more protective and accommodating, there was a constant sense of fear in the back of our minds the whole week. And our families back home remained very concerned for our safety all week.
The first evening of the week, Leftists blocked our route causing us to miss the first part of one of the concerts Cleveland had so graciously provided. In response to all of this, we turned the other cheek.
A few weeks later, the DNC delegates were able to enjoy their convention with absolutely no worry, concern, or threat whatsoever from the Right.
Even though Democrats were allowed to celebrate Obama’s Inauguration without incident, we were not even allowed that one day. Even on Inauguration day, we were attacked and riots occurred just blocks from the Inauguration. In response, we turned the other cheek.
We have watched Madonna give a speech trivializing blowing up the White House. We have seen Kathy Griffin tweet the decapitated head of our President. We have seen a theater company portraying a horrific murder of our President.
On Wednesday, after months of investigations of our President, riots, condemnation and criticism at every turn, 17 of our members of Congress were nearly assassinated on a baseball field.
I apologize in advance but I simply cannot and will not continue to turn the other cheek. And I refuse to agree that the rhetoric on the Right is equal to that of the Left. That is a lie. I have lived every day of the truth for 8 years and I am tired of the lies.
