Grizzly bears – also known as North American Brown Bears – are considered to be amongst the top animals of the food chain. Females can typically weigh up to 400 lbs, while males can grow to weigh as much 900 lbs, with the largest standing on its hind legs at 9.8 ft. high.
Despite their bulk, these omnivorous animals can run as fast as 30 mph for a sustained length of time. One can compare that to the top 100 meter human sprinters who can run up to 28 mph. So if you think you can outrun a grizzly bear, think again. If spotted in the wild, it is recommended to stay at least 300 yards from one of these animals.
After watching this video, you’ll probably think even that is way too close for comfort.
