On Monday, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) – in tough prosecutorial style – grilled F.B.I. Director James Comey, demanding to know how media outlets – such as the Washington Times – had come across classified information relating to the intelligence community’s investigation into the 2016 election.
With his prototypical laser-beam death stare and succinct questions, he referred to leaks of classified information contained in media headlines, before going in for the kill and asking Comey, “I thought it was against the law to disseminate classified information information. Is it?”
